NEW jobs will be created in Sowerby Bridge if council planners give the go ahead for a 12,000 sq ft storage warehouse. The warehouse, off Watson Mill Lane, would house three separated companies, including two already involved in the haulage and storage business in Sowerby Bridge. Mr Mark Wade and Mrs Gwendoline Wade, owners of Wade Removals, have set up a new company, HJH Plus One Ltd, with Mr Wade’s sister, Mrs Brigid Heap and her husband, Mr Mark Heap, of specialist haulage business Michael Heap Ltd.
Mr Wade employs three people full-time and Mr Heap five and that number will increase once the warehouse operating in spring next year. If permission is granted the warehouse will store furniture on behalf of Wade Removals and stage sets, sound and lightning and conference equipment on behalf of Michael Heap Ltd.
The new company will deal with the storage and archiving of office materials within the warehouse. A successful planning application has already been made for security fencing and lightning at the Watson Mill Lane site, receiving grant assistance under the Sowerby Bridge regeneration scheme.
Mr Wade said at the moment he was having to sub-contract storage space in Shipley and the warehouse would give him and his brother-in-law the opportunity to have their own storage base in Sowerby Bridge. Mr Wade could not say how much the warehouse project would cost nor how many jobs would be created, but said more employees would be needed.
“Both of the existing businesses are growing and will continue to grow,” he said.
